The US Liability Silver Eagles soared to their second consecutive upset in the playoffs with a 10-5 victory over AppNet Solutions to move to the semifinal round of the winner’s bracket. Down 5-4 going into the 6th inning, the Silver Eagles rode six hits and excellent baserunning to a six run inning and a 10-5 lead. The USL defense then shut the door, led by a sliding catch in right by Tammy Zingaro in the bottom of the sixth which saved at least two runs. Two nice plays by Eric Piersol at second base in the bottom of the 7th sealed the deal. The Silver Eagle offense was led by Brad Mercer (3-for-4, 2 runs), Jimmy Shaugnessy (2-for-3, 2 runs, 3 RBIs) and Jeff McBride (2-for-3, double, triple, 3 RBIs). Cathy Pagano and Tracy McCandless each picked up a key hit and run in the US Liability rally. Ken Mathers earned the win on the hill.
For AppNet Solutions, Lisa Kunkel, Tom Nagy and Anthony Puccino each went 2-for-3 and Kevin Thomas chipped in with a double and two RBIs in the losing effort.
